The Bulgarian Ministry of Finance has taken out its fourth domestic loan this year by reopening an emission of 7-year government bonds. The bond is denominated in leva, matures on 29.01.2032 and has an annual interest coupon of 3.25%.

The ministry announced this on Monday afternoon.

The bond emission is worth 100 million leva (about 50 million euros) – the same as the one from February 10. The previous two bond emissions were for 300 million leva each (about 152 million euros). With today’s loan, the total debt assumed by the new government since the beginning of 2025 reaches 409 million euros.

The finance ministry reports growing interest in government bonds, which can be explained by the small volume of the loan. The current coverage ratio reaches 2.52, while in the previous issue, it was 2.21. The weighted average annual yield is 3.31%.

The ministry has not yet announced who the largest institutional buyers of the bonds are. Usually, these are banks, given their increasing excess liquidity in recent years.
