Kiril Petkov has not yet submitted a request to terminate his mandate as a member of parliament, according to BNT.
According to information from national television, Petkov has submitted a request for leave. He has also submitted a request for his absence from parliamentary sessions yesterday and today to be excused due to urgent commitments.
The request was approved by the deputy chair of the PP-DB parliamentary group, Lena Borislavova, and sent to the chair of the National Assembly, Natalia Kiselova.
On Wednesday, Petkov himself announced at a press conference that he was resigning as co-chair of “We Continue the Change” and as a member of parliament for the party.
The reason for his decision was the circulation of an anonymous audio recording in which it is claimed that public procurement contracts in the Sofia Municipality are being negotiated in exchange for financial support for the party. At the time, Petkov took responsibility for the selection of personnel in Sofia, which he described as a personal failure.
Later on Friday, the party’s press office announced that the co-chair of the PP would resign as a member of parliament on Monday.
