Mr. Tamás Hak-Kovács has been the Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of DSK Bank since November 2020. Prior to that, since 2012, he held the position of Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of JSC OTP Bank, the Ukrainian subsidiary of OTP. Previously, he worked as Chairman and CEO of the subsidiary of Commerzbank in Hungary (2000 – 2007). In 2007, he started managing the subsidiary of Commerzbank in Moscow, and in 2010, he headed the division of Commerzbank for Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

He graduated from the University of Economic Sciences in Budapest with an MA in Finance and Accounting. He has also studied at the University of Saarland (Saarbrücken, Germany), the University of Vienna (Austria), and the International Institute for Management Development (Lausanne, Switzerland). He has been a certified Chartered Financial Analyst since 2004. In April 2023, Mr. Tamás Hak-Kovács was elected a member of the Management Board of the Association of Banks in Bulgaria.

Mr. Hak-Kovacs, Economic.bg readers have rated DSK Bank’s client services as the best among all financial institutions in the country. What are the priorities you are focusing on to maintain this high level of customer satisfaction?

DSK Bank’s mission has always been clear: to provide complete peace of mind to Bulgarian citizens regarding their financial well-being. This has been our guiding principle for nearly eight decades, and I believe our clients appreciate it.

Our success is due to our ability to adapt to the ever-changing needs of our customers. Customer expectations for service – both in our physical branches and in digital channels – are constantly evolving, and we invest significant resources to always be on the cutting edge. We strive to provide easy, convenient and secure access to banking services, regardless of whether the customer prefers a personal meeting with one of our experts or a quick digital solution.

How much did you invest last year to maintain this high-quality level?

DSK Bank operates the largest network of offices and ATMs in the country and is among the financial institutions in Europe that provide the largest number of physical access points to banking services on the continent.

This is a serious commitment that requires investments of over 250 million euros per year for the maintenance and development of our infrastructure. In addition, we are investing over 25 million euros in new assets, such as software, hardware, modernization of our offices and implementation of new ATMs. All these investments are aimed at making our service faster, more accessible and more efficient for our customers.

What is the next big thing that DSK Bank is planning to improve in terms of services and customer experience?

Our brand-new mobile application, which we developed with our resources, is now available for download on the platforms.

This application will be a key platform that will give customers the opportunity to manage their finances here and now. We believe that digital banking should not just offer basic banking services, but should be intuitive, fast and fully tailored to the needs of users. In the coming months, we will continue to add new functionalities that will make the experience even more complete.

Besides customer service, what else distinguishes DSK Bank in the very competitive banking market of Bulgaria?

What sets us apart is our history, scale, and commitment to the well-being of Bulgarian citizens.

DSK Bank is an institution with deep roots in Bulgaria, but at the same time, it is a leader setting the future of banking. Our scale allows us to offer innovative solutions and stability, while our commitment to customers means we put their needs and convenience first.
